Owners of Dubai-registered vehicle owners based in the emirate as well as Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah can now avail a range of licensing services offered by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at their doorstep.

The RTA launched its ‘Reach-out-to-Customers’ initiative earlier this month, offering several vehicle-related transactions that require the presence of the customer in person at the location of the customer’s choice.

Available for an extra fee of Dh300 in Dubai and Dh350 in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, the service can be availed via the RTA’s partner Tasjeel by calling on its toll-free number 8003662.

Sultan Al Marzouqi, director of Vehicle Licensing at RTA’s Licensing Agency, said the step is intended to offer greater convenience to people by reaching out to them at their locations in Dubai or other emirates.

“The objective of this initiative is to make life easier for people by reaching out to them anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah for processing their transactions through Tasjeel,” said Al Marzouqi.

He added that at a later stage, the facility will be available in other emirates through a variety of service providers in addition to Tasjeel.

A wide range of services that require the physical presence of the customers are covered by this initiative including vehicle ownership, transfer of vehicle ownership, export of vehicles and change of vehicle ownership.

“These vehicle transactions require the customer’s presence in person for signing the papers to complete the transaction. RTA has, therefore, opted to make it easier for customers by reaching out to them. Under such a case, the transaction fee has to be paid in cash only,” added Al Marzouqi.

He said that the initiative will have a host of benefits including enhancing the role of service providers, ensuring the processing of transactions according to the set procedures, activating the role of mobile testing, ensuring smooth and timely processing of transactions, and creating a possibility for adding other services in future.

The service can be availed by calling the Tasjeel toll-free number, wherein the customer’s interest is registered, service information provided with the relevant required documentation and the applicable date and time for the appointment is set for the agent to visit the customer,” added Al Marzouqi. The service fee of Dh300 and Dh350 for Dubai and non-Dubai residents, respectively, will be in addition to the fees applicable for the respective services sought by the customers.
