APolish tourist who had created quite a stir in Pakistani media on the eve of the country’s Independence Day on August 14 by dancing in an empty plane wearing a green shirt and white trousers, while waving the Pakistani flag, has finally spoken about the act.

In the video footage, Eva Blanka Zubeck can be seen dancing with the national flag tied around her waist in front of an Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane, appearing as if she were walking in the air. The footage showed the PIA passenger aircraft, indicating it was waiting for the passengers to board so that it could fly them to Gilgit, Skardu and Hunza.

Eva has been in the country for last six months and does not intend to leave any time soon. She says it is a country of wonderful people and places, particularly its northern areas and that there are vast untapped tourism opportunities there.

“With my performance in that brief video clip, I wanted to show how much I loved Pakistan. The country is a beautiful place to visit,” she said.

“I would really love to bring tourism here, particularly in the northern areas which are extremely beautiful, “she said. “Pakistan is not a country that foreigners usually think of. But

■ it is quite a peaceful, beautiful place,” she said.

After the video clip — which was shot in Karachi — was shown on a number of TV channels, there was public uproar and criticism. Some TV anchorpersons even described it as a conspiracy to desecrate the country’s flag.

‘Most intense trip’

Eva cannot stop gushing about the country. “I have met the local people and got to know their language, culture, and traditional cuisine,” Eva said. Having visited Karachi and Islamabad, she says she has fallen in love with Karachi’s biryani and the popular Chicken Karachi dish.

She has also learnt a number of Urdu phrases like “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Mera naam Eva hai.” (My name is Eva). She has called her visit to Pakistan the most intense trip of her life. Working for the European Union, she is currently based out of the UK. Eva plans to showcase Pakistan’s tourism to the wider world, to attract the maximum number of foreign tourists here. “In fact, I am planning to move here for that purpose,” said Eva.
