Mani tasked with international cricket return
Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked Ehsan Mani, his pick for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman’s post, to utilise his experience and energies and bring Pakistan’s cricket grounds back to life.
According to sources, the former International Cricket Council (ICC) president assured Khan that, if elected to the top post of national cricket board, he would try his utmost to act as per his desire and direction.
Khan also asked him to convince the world that times have changed and Pakistan is now safe for international teams to play.
Mani told the prime minister that he was making contact with other members of the governing board of PCB and hoped that all members of the board would support him in the election.
Imran hoped that under his leadership, all decisions in the PCB would be made on merit.
On Monday, following the resignation of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi, Khan had nominated former ICC head Mani as the board’s new chairman.
In his tweet, he said that he has appointed Mani as Chairman PCB as he brings vast and valuable experience to the job: “I have appointed Ehsan Mani as Chairman PCB. He brings vast and valuable experience to the job. He represented PCB in the ICC; was Treasurer ICC for 3 yrs and then headed the ICC for another 3 yrs.”
