Three-year-old abandoned cat struggles to find home
She has been ignored because of her food allergies but she is a loving Arabian Mau
Minnie, how long must she wait to find her forever home? She was rescued from a construction site in Sharjah as a kitten, along with her mum and brother, Magic. Her brother and mum were adopted a long time ago, but Minnie hasn’t been lucky. Her wait is just because she is special.
Minnie has food allergies. Yes, just like humans, animals can have food allergies, too. She is allergic to all kinds of birds — chicken, duck and turkey, which is commonly found in almost all pet foods.
Minnie used to have red and itchy spots on her skin, which she would lick raw. But, after doing a blood test and discovering what the cause for her skin issues was, we started Minnie on a single protein diet, built around fish and venison.
Adorable
Since changing her diet, we have been able to control her condition, with 95 per cent success rate and without any medication. She still gets the occasional skin rash due to stress, or we suspect she eats somebody else’s dinner.
Minnie is adorable and loving. She is a little shy at first but very sweet once she gets to know you. She is a three-year-old Arabian Mau, but still a tiny and delicate cat. Minnie is good with other cats and people. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
She’s been looking for a home for over two years now. Minnie gets spooked easily, so would not do so well with young children. She’s good with other cats, especially males, as she sees them as a father figure. She will be happy in an apartment or a villa.
