Dubai’s second smart police station, which is completely free from human intervention, opened at La Mer, Jumeirah, yesterday.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, inaugurated the new automated station, more than a year after Dubai’s first smart station was opened at City Walk.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander In Chief of Dubai Police, and his team briefed Shaikh Hamdan on the fully-automated operations and services offered by the station.

“The smart station will operate 24 hours, seven days a week and offer 27 key services, including reporting of crimes, traffic incidents and community services. It will also provide 33 fullyautomated sub-services ranging from getting a good-conduct certificate to social support for victims of family violence,” Maj Gen Al Merri said.

Various complaints

La Mer station receives labour complaints, home security requests, complaints on human trafficking crimes, while offering services such as victim support, fine payment and other police services.

Shaikh Hamdan expressed happiness on the development achieved by Dubai Police and their efforts to keep Dubai a happy and safe city.

Abdullah Mohammad Al Basti, Secretary General of Dubai Executive Council, accompanied Shaikh Hamdan during his visit.

Once seated in private cubicles at the station, visitors can click on an electronic dashboard to communicate online with police officers around the clock.

More autonomous police stations are in the works and will be rolled out at later dates as part of strategy to provide smart police services to all residential and commercial areas to facilitate access to police and save people’s time and effort.
