UAE’s tolerant culture to be celebrated
FESTIVAL OF TOLERANCE ON NOVEMBER 9 TO HIGHLIGHT ZAYED’S VALUES, PRINCIPLES
The Ministry of Tolerance will hold its first National Festival of Tolerance in Abu Dhabi from November 9 to 16 to highlight the principles and values of the UAE’s founding father Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his values of co-existence.
More than 40 ministries and authorities will participate in the festival’s events themed, ‘A Zayed Legacy’.
Announcing the details of the festival yesterday, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, said: “the festival represents our pride in the UAE’s founding father Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid down the foundations of social cohesion and instilled the values of tolerance, respect, coexistence and harmony among all UAE citizens and residents to achieve happiness and prosperity for all.”
Through the festival, the ministry will strive to promote mutual respect and understanding as core values of a safe society, and to boost the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
The festival’s activities will spread the message of tolerance among a large number of entities, institutions and communities, including schools, youth, families, the elderly, business communities, young writers in the UAE, and would also target ministries and local governments, besides public and private sector entities.
“We have the right to be proud of the fact the UAE has become a leading example of peaceful coexistence and prosperity in the world,” Shaikh Nahyan said. “The UAE’s visionary and prudent leadership, starting with the late founding father, have successfully managed to establish tolerance, peaceful coexistence, stability and prosperity that we enjoy in the UAE,” he added.
The festival’s events will be held in Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi.
