Jagan seeks central probe into attack

- BY MOHAMMAD SIDDIQUE Correspondent

Even as YSR Congress president and leader of opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy has knocked on the High Court doors alleging a conspiracy to kill him, the accused has told police that he had acted on his own.

In a petition filed before Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday, Jagan alleged that the attempt on his life at Visakhapatnam airport was the result of the failure of the state government. He sought a probe into the attack by a central investigation agency and named Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as respondent.

Jagan had been injured when a man attacked him with a knife in the VIP lounge of the airport on October 25.

The High Court will hear his petition today. Earlier, YSRCP MLA YV Subba Reddy had moved a petition with the same demand. Another PIL (public interest litigation) was also filed and the High Court had adjourned the hearing of the case till next week.

Meanwhile, Srinivas Rao, the man accused of attacking Jagan, told the police that he acted on his own and no one else was behind him.
