281 and Beyond: the story of VVS Laxman

V.V.S. Laxman, the wristy Indian batting great whose 281 stopped the mighty Australian­s in Kolkata in 2001, is set to release his autobiogra­phy on November 19. The name of his book will be ‘281 and Beyond’.

The story of his career has been co-written by senior cricket writer R. Kaushik. Laxman made the official announceme­nt regarding the book and revealed the name of his autobiogra­phy through Facebook livestream in associatio­n with Star Sports.

Laxman’s knock and that Test match is one of the glorious chapters in Indian cricket. India who were bowled out for 171 in reply to Australia first innings score of 445. Following on, Laxman and Rahul Dravid registered a 376-run partnershi­p for the fifth wicket to set Australia a target of 384 runs Australia lost the Test by 171 runs despite enforcing the follow-on.

The knock of 281 is hailed as one among the finest knocks in world cricket. Cricket fans has transforme­d his initials VVS into Very Very Special. He retired in 2012.

“Ever since my retirement, I wanted to share my story. It was a tough hard work and hope everyone will read and enjoy it,” said Laxman.
