Acouple have been accused of having an affair that resulted in the birth of an illegitimate child whom they tried to register in the name of another man using forged marriage papers.

In July Dubai Police were called into a building in Al Nahda area following a fight between an Emirati employee, 48, and a Uzbek woman employee, 31.

The Emirati and the Uzbek woman, along with her 9-month-old girl, were taken to the police station for questioning, and there police discovered that the couple had been involved in an unmarried sexual affair.

Police found out that the couple’s affair resulted in the birth of the illegitimate girl and they submitted a false marriage contract at the hospital where the Uzbek woman delivered in September 2017.

Prosecutors charged the Emirati man and the Uzbek woman of having consensual sex that resulted in an illegitimate child, using forged marriage papers to register the newborn under the name of an Uzbek man.

According to the charges, prosecutors said the suspects forged a marriage contract that showed the Uzbek woman as married to another Uzbek man. Then they submitted the forged marriage papers to the hospital where the woman had delivered the Emirati’s child on the pretext that the real father was the Uzbek man.

Contract emailed

The suspects pleaded not guilty and denied the charges when they appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.

The Emirati suspect asked presiding judge Mohammad Jamal to adjourn the case until he presents his written defence.

The Uzbek woman told prosecutors that her countrywoman helped her obtain the forged marriage contract that she emailed to her. The trial continues.
