Progress of the Michel case
The Indian government wants Christian Michel’s custody in connection with the AgustaWestland bribery case involving the purchase of 12 helicopters worth around $638 million. Michel is accused of routing bribes allegedly paid by AgustaWestland to Indian politicians and officials in 2010. In February 2017, India lodged an extradition request for Michel. He was subsequently arrested in Dubai, but Michel pleaded not guilty and appealed. On September 2, the Dubai Appeal Court approved the extradition request, and Michel’s defence team approached the Dubai Cassation Court.
