Ganapathy steps down as CPI Maoist chief
Ganapathy, the shadowy leader of the armed leftist movement in India for almost 25 years, is no longer the chief of the Communist Party of India-Maoist party.
According to the police and intelligence sources the 71-year-old leader, who was recently declared as the ‘Most Wanted’ man by Indian agencies, stepped down from the all-powerful post of General Secretary. He decided to make way for the number two man, Namballa Keshav Rao, alias Baswaraj, in view of his deteriorating health and advanced age. (Staff Report)
