5 men on trial for assaulting grocery vendor
Five Pakistani men have been accused of physically assaulting a grocery store vendor in August 2016, injuring him with a knife, and stealing Dh11,000 worth of cash and products, a court heard yesterday.
The men refuted the accusations at the Dubai Court of First Instance, saying they were coerced into a confession. One suspect said: “We were apprehended for committing another heist in Al Rashidiya. The police accused us of this heist as well ... but we did not commit it.” A ruling will be heard on November 14. (Staff Report)
