Bomb disposal expert dies during mission

Pakistan’s army has said an officer died while trying to defuse a roadside bomb found during a sweep in the country’s northwestern tribal regions bordering Afghanistan.

Yesterday’s military statement said the explosion in the Mohmad Gat area of Mohmand tribal region killed Capt. Zargham Fareed and seriously wounded another soldier. It wasn’t immediately clear when the explosion took place.

Pakistan’s tribal regions have in the past served as hideouts for militants. (AP)
