300 delegates for diplomacy conference

ORGANISED BY THE EDA, EVENT TO FOCUS ON GENDER ISSUES, TECHNOLOGY, CULTURE

Focusing on the latest trends and challenges in internatio­nal affairs, the inaugural Abu Dhabi Diplomacy Conference is set to take place today with over 300 delegates including diplomats and academics expected to attend.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n, the twoday event is being organised by the Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA) as the conference aims to come up with new solutions that can be used in the realm of internatio­nal diplomacy.

Host of speakers

Invited speakers include Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n, Zaki Nussaibah, Minister of State, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligen­ce, and Lana Nussaibah, Permanent Representa­tive of the UAE.

“The Abu Dhabi Diplomacy ■ Conference will provide a platform for high-profile figures, thought leaders and practition­ers from the fields of internatio­nal politics, diplomacy, academia and the private sector to discuss the latest innovation­s, trends and challenges, as well as practical solutions in the field of diplomatic practice,” said Bernardino Leon, director general at EDA.

Leon said a multitude of topics would be discussed and debated, with subjects ranging from gender, technology and culture.

“With regard to gender, we will be presenting research showing how women are still far in the minority to men in the field of diplomacy.

“Our discussion­s on training will revolve around best practices in developing future diplomats,” he added.
