Offensive caricature?

Horrible caricature, why? (“Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib: Heartwarming victories”, November 9).

From Ms Oum Oumeyma

UAE Horrible cartoon? How come the overseers of the paper let the picture get published. This is a joke. (“Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib: Heart-warming victories”, Gulf news, November 9). From Mr A Tribe Called Boxley UAE

The Newsmaker column offers a unique take on personalities who are in the news on any given week. Since it is part of The Views, it offers opinionated content, illustrated with caricatures. Although the content is colourful, there is no attempt to denigrate the Newsmaker. In the column on Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, there is no attempt to dilute the fact that they are Americans. In fact, we highlighted the opportunity the US has offered them. As for art, a person’s features are exaggerated in a caricature. That’s what makes it a caricature. Whether it’s good or bad, it is purely a matter of perspective.

Gulf News Coverage missing? In today’s newspaper I do not find any news on the ongoing women’s cricket World Cup. Why is this event not being covered? From Mr Vijay Raghavan Dubai

The women’s World Cup certainly has it’s own readership. We will try to ensure more of a presence in the coming days. However, the matches are taking place in West Indies and hence, not compatible with our time zone to carry the news on the same day.
