Another Pakistani cricketer weds Indian bride in Dubai
BRIDE SAMIYA IS A DUBAI-BASED INDIAN EXPAT WHO HAILS FROM HARYANA
Pakistani cricketer Hassan Ali married Dubai-based Indian expatriate Samiya Arzoo at the Atlantis The Palm Hotel here yesterday.
Ali is the fourth Pakistani cricketer to marry an Indian girl. All-rounder Shoaib Malik married Indian tennis star Sania Mirza in 2010, Mohsin Khan married renowned Indian actress Reena Roy in 1983, and Zaheer Abbas married Rita Luthra, now known as Samina Abbas, in 1988.
Ali’s wedding celebrations have been going on for the last few days in Dubai, with his best friend spin bowler Shaddab Khan, also in Dubai to participate in the ceremony.
Mehendi, an event held the day before the wedding, which involves guests gathering to sing and apply henna, was held on Monday. A simple nikahnama — the formal marriage certificate — was also signed that day.
Ali went around the city with his bride for a photo shoot, which was published on social media. The couple was photographed at different locations including Jumeirah Board Walk, Atlantis, the Burj
Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab.
Ali, clad in a green kurta, had his bachelor party with close friends who were all clad in orange kurtas.
The Pakistani pacer will be
absent from the first week of his national team’s camp on account of his wedding.
According to sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board, most of the players on Pakistan’s
cricket team will not be attending the wedding due to conflicting training schedules. However, Hassan Ali will host a walima ceremony (a traditional banquet) in Pakistan after a month or so after his honeymoon.
