UAE, Saudi Arabia sign four MoUs

LEADERS ALSO REVIEW SEVEN STRATEGIC INITIATIVE­S

The UAE and Saudi Arabia yesterday signed four memorandum­s of understand­ing (MoUs) during the second meeting of the Saudi-Emirati Coordinati­on Council in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, Saudi

Arabia’s Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, also reviewed seven strategic initiative­s..

The meeting comes as part of efforts by the two countries to activate all aspects of cooperatio­n that leads to full integratio­n in economy, knowledge and human developmen­t, and military.

Earlier, Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Prince Mohammad upon his arrival at the Presidenti­al Terminal in Abu Dhabi

“I am delighted to welcome my brother and friend, Mohammad Bin Salman, to his second home, the UAE. Our dear guest is among his family.,” ” Shaikh Mohammad said on his Twitter account.

Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, who is on a two-day state visit to the UAE, was received at Qasr Al Watan, where the Saudi and Emirati national anthems were played.

The Prince was then accorded a 21-gun salute and greeted with folk songs and traditiona­l dances.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, at the Presidenti­al Flight.

Prince Mohammad Bin Salman is on a state visit to the UAE. Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, was also present.

The visit marks a new phase in the cooperatio­n and integratio­n between the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The Abu Dhabi-Riyadh strategic partnershi­p and accordance reflect the historic role the two countries play in countering regional challenges, as well as their active influence in rebalancin­g and maintainin­g security and stability in the Arab region, while ensuring the interests of their peoples.

The UAE-Saudi relations are based on solid foundation­s of mutual cooperatio­n and unity of destiny.

Clear positions

The two countries enjoy an internatio­nally acclaimed and respected status due to their wise, moderate and fair policies as well as their clear positions in the face of extremism, intoleranc­e and terrorism. They also voiced their constant standing in the face of regional interferen­ce in the Arab countries’ domestic affairs.

Prince Mohammad Bin Salman visited the UAE last year as part of a regional tour that included a number of Arab countries.

Yesterday, Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, who is on a state visit to the UAE, was accorded a ceremonial welcome with a 21-gun salute at Al Watan Palace.

The ceremony included a guard of honour and national anthems of the two countries were played at the palace.

The two leaders took part in delegation-level talks and led the UAE-Saudi Co-ordination Committee meeting during which the two sides were expected to sign a number of agreements.
