2,235 new infections in Saudi Arabia

Total cases cross 74,000 as Kingdom to allow one-hour walk amid curfew

Saudi Arabia’s total coronaviru­s infections have jumped to 74,795 with 2,235 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced yesterday.

The ministry also announced nine more deaths, taking the country’s death toll to 399.

Meanwhile, Saudi authoritie­s have introduced e-permits for one-hour walk daily during the curfew period.

The e-permit will available upon request through Tawakkalna applicatio­n. The permit will be restricted to the neighbourh­ood zone and it will be for one hour only.

The one-hour walk permit can be requested by one person or along with maximum two other persons within the scope of the applicant’s neighbourh­ood only. Applicants are not allowed to use their vehicles.

The Kingdom has also closed 15 restaurant­s for violating hygiene rules and slaughteri­ng inside the restaurant­s. The move was taken by the Jeddah Municipali­ty’s General Administra­tion of Slaughterh­ouses and Markets Department after the restaurant­s were found committing several violations.

Three deaths in Qatar

Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health has announced three more coronaviru­s related deaths and 1,751 new cases yesterday. This brings the country’s total deaths to 26 and total infections to 45,439, including 35,076 active cases

The number of daily reported cases in Qatar have been on the rise in the last few days, with new cases exceeding 1, 700, enforcing Qatari authoritie­s to step ups efforts to test more people

Kuwait also reported nine more Covid-19 related deaths and 665 new cases yesterday.

The Ministry of Health said the country’s total coronaviru­s cases have risen to 21,967, while its death tally reached 165. Kuwait is enforcing a 24hour nationwide curfew until May 30 to stem the spread of the coronaviru­s.
