India reports 10,114 new Covid cases on the eve of reopenings
Malls, hotels and religious venues set to open doors today
India yesterday reported 10,114 cases yesterday, another single-day high for the country that comes a day before it reopens shopping malls, hotels and religious venues after a 10-week lockdown.
India has already partially restored train services and domestic flights and allowed shops and manufacturing to reopen. E-commerce companies have started to deliver goods, including those considered nonessential, to places outside containment zones.
International flights
Meanwhile, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the government will take a decision on resuming commercial international flights only after other countries ease their restrictions.
In a tweet, Puri said: “A decision to resume regular international operations will be taken as soon as countries ease restrictions on entry of foreign nationals. Destination countries have to be ready to allow incoming flights.” He also said that there is an increasing demand for resumption of international flights by people who want to travel due to compelling reasons.

Shopping malls and places of worship across the country, barring states like Maharashtra and Goa, are ready to throw their doors from today after remaining closed for nearly two and a half months due to the lockdown prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Guidelines
As per guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), malls, hotels, restaurants and places of worship can open from June 8 as part of phase I of the “unlockdown”.
Besides coming up with their lists of dos and don’ts for the people, authorities have ensured that premises of religious places, restaurants, malls have been cleaned and provisions for social distancing and other protocols being made.
While entrance to religious places and malls must have hand sanitiser dispensers and thermal screening provisions, not more than 50 per cent of capacity is going to be permitted at food courts and restaurants.
