US blogger to approach apex court for justice

- BY SANA JAMAL Correspondent

After a local court dismissed the petition of US blogger Cynthia Dawn Ritchie seeking registration of a rape case against Senator Rehman Malik, she said she would knock the Supreme Court’s door for justice.

“Yes, we will take the Senator Rehman Malik rape case up to the Supreme Court if we have to,” she said in a tweet. In a separate post, she said: “I will not give up on this matter. If we can’t get justice here in Pakistan, I will ensure all of this is handled in the USA.”

Cynthia told Gulf News that her “team will continue to work with the Pakistani system to the fullest extent of the law, including elevating this case to Pakistan’s Supreme Court, if needed. Otherwise, we will seek justice in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).” Commenting on the dismissal of the rape case by the court, Cynthia Ritchie said: “My rape case against former Interior Minister Rehman Malik ultimately never had a chance for an objective investigation nor judgement due to PPP’s continued influence over the police and judicial systems.”
