RS 1,000 FINE FOR NOT WEARING MA SKIN KARA CHI

Karachi’s administra­tor Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has proposed to the Sindh government to impose a fine of Rs1,000 to anyone not wearing a face mask in the public places in the city.

Talking to media persons, the Karachi’s administra­tor said that he had proposed the fine to the government in view of increase in the coronaviru­s cases in the country especially in Karachi.

He said that they had proposed a fine back in March or April this year when the coronaviru­s cases had started to increase in the city but the provincial government didn’t accept the proposal at that time.

He said that the proposal had once again been sent to the provincial government to save people of the city fromthe second wave of the deadly pandemic.

On October 14, 2020, Wednesday, Sindh province reported 241 new coronaviru­s cases out of total 9,234 new Covid- 19 tests conducted in the province. The tally of coronaviru­s cases in Sindh increased to 140,997 out of which 133,651 patients have recovered so far.

Four more patients of Covid- 19 died in the province in the previous 24 hours. Out of 241 new cases in Sindh, 145 belonged to Karachi.

Earlier in May this year, the Sindh Governor Imran Ismail had signed an ordinance to amend the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act2014 according to which, any person or institutio­n involved in an act of wilful transmissi­on/ spread of any infectious disease in the province including coronaviru­s could face fine up to Rs1 million.

Any person infected with coronaviru­s could face fine under this ordinance if he or she violates the isolation or quarantine orders of the government to contain spread of the infectious disease. Likewise an institutio­n could face penalty under this ordinance if the spread of infectious disease takes place among its workers due to the lack of the precaution­ary measures or violation of the Standard Operating Procedures related to the anti- coronaviru­s lockdown regime..
