BIOLOGY FOR BETTER NURTURES STEM

-

BFB was formed to help students with no access to remote learning study during this pandemic crisis. The initiative aims to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and nurture love for biology.

Currently BFB is helping underprivileged children in Africa and India through NGOs there.

What does BFB do?

It gets request for study material for the students from NGOs from these countries.

The student volunteers brainstorm the subject prepare suitable study material for the request through their website and deliver it to the students via the NGOs.

The study material is supplemented by podcasts, webinars and through an online magazine.

How it gained the reach

BFB’s sponsor is an organisation called Hack+, a non-profit that helps students launch unique ventures.

Hack+ provides resources such as a professional

online events platform (for webinars) and organisation management software. Being sponsored by Hack+ means that their 501 (c) (3) non-profit status, which is the status for a legally registered non-profit organisation in the US, gets extended to BFB due to a contract signed with it.

How do volunteers run the campaign?

Interested students, who sign up for the project, are given the handbook and other promotional resources to form a local chapter.

Once a local chapter is formed, it will gain access to BFB’s Slack, which is the main communication platform.

The volunteers get monthly tasks for the creation of STEM worksheets or videos or writing for the magazine and or blog.
