RTA PLEDGES DH5M WHILE LULU AND AL ANSARI EXCHANGE EACH GIVE DH1M
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has pledged Dh5 million to the UAE’s ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign, aimed at providing food parcels to disadvantaged individuals and families across 20 countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa during this Ramadan.
Mattar Mohammad Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RTA, said: “Doing good has become the instinctive approach of the UAE towards those in dire need of help.
“This year’s campaign comes as a response to accelerating international efforts to combat hunger and malnutrition, especially after the pandemic pushed disadvantaged communities into greater food insecurity, poverty and unemployment.”
The ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign launched on April 11 will support global efforts to combat hunger among lower-income groups in 20 countries.
LuLu donates Dh1 million
Yousuf Ali M.A, Chairman of LuLu Group, donated Dh1 million to the campaign. Every Dh1 provides the basic food items that can prepare one meal.
“The ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign is a distinguished humanitarian initiative. As a socially committed organisation, we have always believed in giving back to the community, and we pledge all our support for this noble deed,” he said.
Last year, LuLu Group donated Dh1 million to the ‘10 Million Meals’ campaign, which provided 125,000 meals for individuals and families impacted by the pandemic in the UAE.
Ali previously donated Dh3 million to support the construction of the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre in Egypt.
Al Ansari Exchange
Al Ansari Exchange also donated Dh1 million to the campaign. Mohammad Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of Al Ansari Exchange, said: “We are honored to be part of the national efforts aimed at making the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign a success. This campaign represents a message of love and solidarity from the UAE to the world.”
