India vaccinatio­n crosses 110 million jabs

India’s vaccinatio­n coverage yesterday exceeded 110 million, on the 4th day of Tika Utsav (vaccinatio­n festival) with over 2.6 million doses given in the last 24 hours.

Cumulative­ly, 111,179,578 vaccine doses have been administer­ed through 1,653,488 sessions, as per the provisiona­l report till 7am yesterday. The cumulative vaccinatio­n beneficiar­ies include 9,048,686 HCWs (health care workers) who have taken the first dose and 5,581,072 HCWs who have taken the second dose.

This also includes 10,136,430 FLWs (frontline workers) (first dose), 5,010,773 FLWs (second dose), 42,466,354 first dose beneficiar­ies and 2,467,484 second dose beneficiar­ies more than 60 years old and 35,650,444 (first dose) and 818,335 (second dose) beneficiar­ies aged 45 to 60 years.

Day 88

Eight states account for 60.16 per cent of the total doses given so far in the country.

As on Day 88 of the vaccinatio­n drive (April 13), 2,646,528 vaccine doses were given. Out of which, 2,258,910 beneficiar­ies were vaccinated across 44,643 sessions for first dose and 387,618 beneficiar­ies received second dose.

In the country’s bid to flush out Covid cases, another milestone has been reached. The country has crossed 260 million tests. The exact figure stands at 260,618,866 tests. The tests conducted in the last 24 hours stand at 1,411,758. The testing capacity has been ramped up to 1.5 million tests per day.

The government said that more than 260 million tests have been conducted so far in the country.

Recoveries

India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 12,253,697 with 97,168 recoveries being registered in a span of 24 hours.

Besides, 879 deaths were reported in a span of 24 hours.

Ten states account for 88.05 per cent of the new deaths. Maharashtr­a saw the maximum casualties (258). Chhattisga­rh follows with 132 daily deaths.

Thirteen states and UTs have not reported any Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours. These are Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Ladakh, Daman and Diu & Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Lakshadwee­p, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Arunachal Pradesh.
