Dubai Duty Free, Emirates Islamic Bank make generous donations
Emirates Islamic Bank yesterday donated Dh5 million to provide five million meals to the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign.
The biggest food distribution drive in the region aims to provide food parcels for disadvantaged individuals and families across 20 countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Hisham Abdullah Al Qasim, Chairman of Emirates Islamic Bank, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates NBD Group, said: “Donating to the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign reflects our mandate as an Islamic banking institution with a firm commitment to community service. We hope our contribution helps alleviate the suffering of individuals and families affected by the ongoing repercussions of the pandemic.”
Salah Amin, CEO of Emirates Islamic, said: “We stand with everyone dedicated to upholding human dignity across the world by providing basic human needs such as food, shelter, health and education. The ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign is an ambitious, yet practical response to the existential challenge if hunger that has been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.”

Meanwhile, Dubai Duty Free, through its own Foundation, pledged Dh3 million to the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign.

This is very much in line with our commitment to social responsibility principles that contribute to the UAE’s goal of extending a helping hand during this holy month of Ramadan,” said Colm McLoughlin, executive vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Dubai Duty Free. He added: “This great initiative represents an exceptional opportunity for Dubai Duty Free to celebrate the values of giving through the humanitarian effort of reaching out to those in need and alleviating hunger and malnutrition in the developing world.”
