Robbers return booty over bridal link to village

Man’s identity changes looters’ behaviour

Regretful robbers returned all the looted goods and also extended a warm welcome to a passer-by after coming to know that the man they had robbed was in fact married to a girl from their village.

The incident took place in Begusarai district of Bihar on Tuesday.

According to reports, Amar Kumar, a resident of Samastipur district, was going to the house of his father-inlaw in Begusarai district on his motorbike when a gang waylaid him at gunpoint at a deserted location.

The robbers took away his bike, cell phone as well as his wallet containing Rs5,000 in cash. Subsequent­ly, they tied him to a tree.

During his captivity, the robbers inquired about his identity and the place he was visiting. The victim revealed that he was going to the house of his fatherin-law in the nearby village and that he was married to the daughter of one Ghuran Mahato. Reports said the behaviour of the robbers suddenly changed the moment he introduced himself as the son-in-law of the villager.

In the next one hour, the criminals not only extended a warm welcome to the victim and

took proper care of him but also returned all the looted goods. Based on the informatio­n provided by the victim, the police have launched a hunt to identify the gang, .

“We are really amazed to know the way the robbers extended a warm welcome after coming to know about the victim’s identity. Yet have requested the police to intensify patrolling in the area,” former village council chief Arvind Kumar said.
