Mohammad Bin Zayed receives world leaders

Heads of state and representa­tives of various countries congratula­te President and condole Khalifa’s death

Leaders and dignitarie­s from all across the world continue to convey their congratula­tory messages to President His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

They said that Shaikh Mohammad deserves this precious trust and its responsibi­lity, as he, they affirmed, has drawn from the wisdom of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Leader and from late Shaikh Khalifa.

Shaikh Mohammad received a phone call from Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia.

Prince Mohammad congratula­ted Shaikh Mohammad and the people of the UAE on his election as President of the UAE. He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant more security, prosperity and stability to the UAE.

Shaikh Mohammad thanked the Saudi Crown Prince for his sincere feelings, wishing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people all progress and prosperity.

Dr Ahmad Al Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Eldersin a post published on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts said: “While sympathisi­ng with my dear brother, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, over losing his brother, the late Shaikh Khalifa, I would like to congratula­te him, and pray to Allah Almighty to grant him the strength to succeed as the UAE’s president and leader, and pick up the torch from his wise brother in serving his country and nation and spreading justice and good.”

While it is under sorrowful circumstan­ces, I offer my sincere and warmest congratula­tions on your appointmen­t as President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. I look forward to the continuati­on of the strong and historic bonds between our two countries and peoples.” Queen Elizabeth II

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II yesterday sent a message of congratula­tions to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election as President of the UAE. The message reads: “While it is under sorrowful circumstan­ces, I offer my sincere and warmest congratula­tions on your appointmen­t as President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. I look forward to the continuati­on of the strong and historic bonds between our two countries and peoples.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping in a congratula­tory message said that he stands ready to work with the new president to deepen the comprehens­ive strategic partnershi­p for the benefit of the two countries and their people.

He explained that, since the establishm­ent of bilateral diplomatic relations, the UAE and China have advanced their relations comprehens­ively and deeply.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “My best wishes to the Ruler of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on being elected as the new President of the UAE,” Modi tweeted from his official Twitter account.

“I am confident that under his dynamic and visionary leadership, our Comprehens­ive Strategic Partnershi­p will continue to deepen,” Modi added.

Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi said: “Pakistan values its fraternal relations with UAE,” the President said in a tweet. “I hope under his leadership fraternal relations between the two countries will be further strengthen­ed. It is hoped that the UAE will make further progress under your leadership.”

Meanwhile Shaikh Mohammad continued to accept the condolence­s of world leaders and heads of their delegation­s over the passing of the Shaikh Khalifa.

Shaikh Mohammad accepted condolence­s in Abu Dhabi from President Mohammad Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani of Mauritania; Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic; Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan; Wavel Ramkalawan, President of Seychelles; and Indian Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.

President His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan continued to accept condolence­s of world leaders and heads of their delegation­s over the passing of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday received condolence­s from Qatar’s Emir Shaikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. The President received Shaikh Tamim and his delegation at the Presidenti­al airport in Abu Dhabi.

Shaikh Mohammad also accepted condolence­s from President Mohammad Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani of Mauritania; Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic; Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan; Wavel Ramkalawan, President of Seychelles; and Indian Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.

The leaders and heads of delegation­s expressed their sincere condolence­s to the Al Nahyan family and to the people of the Emirates, asking of the Almighty to dwell the late UAE leader in His vast Gardens.

Accepting condolence­s along with Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan was His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain.

Also accepting condolence­s with Shaikh Mohammad were Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representa­tive in Al Dhafra Region; Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representa­tive in Al Ain Region; Shaikh Saif Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan; Surour Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan; Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Shaikh Saeed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representa­tive.

Zayed’s legacy

The world leaders and their accompanyi­ng delegation­s highlighte­d that Shaikh Mohammad’s election as President was proof that he was deserving of the precious trust and the responsibi­lity that came with it.

They also affirmed that Shaikh Mohammad has drawn from the wisdom of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE and from late Shaikh Khalifa.

For his part, Shaikh Mohammad expressed his gratitude and appreciati­on for the sincere brotherly feelings expressed by the world leaders towards the UAE and its people. He also thanked them for congratula­ting him and his election as the new President of UAE, wishing them continued health and success in leading their nations to further progress.
