- Gulf News Report

Dubai Culture is organising the second edition of the Hatta Cultural Nights at the Hatta Heritage Village from today until January 1. The festival will celebrate Emirati heritage, folklore, music, and poetry.

This is in line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enrich Hatta’s cultural and artistic scene and stimulate cultural tourism.

The Supreme Committee to Oversee the Development of Hatta is tasked with highlighting the culture of Hatta’s natural beauty and supporting local products and craftsmen. It is also part of Dubai Culture’s support of the Dubai Destinations initiative.

Mariam Al Tamimi, Acting Director of the Heritage Sites Department at Dubai Culture, said: “Hatta Cultural Nights spotlights the nature and rich history of Hatta, like customs, traditions and cultural heritage, to strengthen its position on the cultural tourism map.”

Supporting local families

Al Tamimi indicated that the festival will be run in close collaboration with the residents of Hatta to support families and attract creative talent.

The cultural event includes distinctive folklore and creative expression, presented by local bands, where the audience will be able to enjoy the Al Harbiya and Al Rababa performances. The festival will present evenings filled with Arabic poetry performed by a group of Emirati poets alongside several other traditional performances.

The Hatta Fort, the Hatta Dam, the Hatta Heritage Village and the Hatta Hill Park, feature prominently in Dubai Destinations winter campaign, which also spotlights Hatta’s exceptional recreational facilities.
