Job fair for people of determination in Sharjah
House of Wisdom hosts pathbreaking initiative
The Masarat Center for Development and Empowerment of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) yesterday organised the first job fair for people of determination in cooperation with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At least 13 government and private entities participated in the first of its kind fair organised at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah. The event was attended by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman SCCI; Mohammad Ahmad Amin Al Awadi, Director General SCCI; Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties, SCCI board members and a number of senior officials. Shaikha Jamila Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, President of SCHS, said that the job fair for people of determination is a significant step towards promoting social and economic empowerment for this group. “It is a great initiative to provide them with job opportunities at various entities as the fair will help them overcome the challenges to access job opportunities,” she added.
Shaikha Jamila said SCHS will continue to develop programmes and initiatives that will deliver support and care for people of determination. She added that 67 people of determination are employed at SCHS.
Al Owais said that Sharjah Chamber has supported the job fair as a demonstration of its commitment to social responsibility and is in implementation of the wise vision of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Awadi told Gulf News that the UAE provides equal and fair employment opportunities for people with special needs.
