CELEBRATION TIME
Dubai-based AK Design is celebrating after clinching a Commercial Interior Design award for the third time in five years.
Adel Al Mojil Consulting Engineers received the award for Sustainable Interior Design. Initiative of the Year for the Autodesk offices in Dubai. Judges praised the project for its sustainable approach, the use of natural daylight and its connection to green spaces outside.
Kim Nielsen, Design Consultant at AK Design, said: “The Autodesk offices, which have just received LEED Silver certification, is a project that we are very proud of.
“The focus was on recycled, recyclable, renewable or sustainable material and strategies. Each finish, detail and function was scrutinised for LEED compatibility at each stage of the project.
“The selection of materials included timber, rubber and felt, not only for their green credentials but to also create a calm backdrop for the brand images and brightly coloured furniture.”
AK Design was also highly commended for its design for the Little Gems PreSchool, Dubai, in the category ‘Public Space’.
Some 150 luxury villas and waterfront mansions are currently being constructed at the flagship project, which is being designed by leading sustainable development specialists A++.
Alberto Vignatelli, the CEO and Chairman of Luxury Living Group, said: “The deal signed between Al Hamra Real Estate Development and Luxury Living Group reflects the fact that both parties share the same ideals and commitment to ensuring that the Falcon Island project becomes one of the most prestigious modern builds in the Middle East.”
