And if you are wondering what the hot colour palettes for home and interiors will be, global authority Pantone has announced its nine key trend predictions — and while furnishings take on a more muted aspect, colours still pop up on the scene.
“While rigid colour rules have been replaced by more creative guidelines, style and colour coordination in the home remains a consistent goal,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “The Pantone View home + interiors 2015 forecast can validate some pre-conceived colour choices, while also giving new colour inspiration and direction.”
Some of the palettes for 2015 are categorised as: ‘Style-Setting' (the purple family of colours played off against mahogany, off-white, grey and taupe); ‘Abstractions' (colour pairings that might at first appear to be random, including grape and apricot, dahlia red, stonewashed blue, hazel nut brown and vineyard green); 'Botanicum' (a sophisticated grouping of natural hues, including shadings of green, grape and café au lait, often counter-balanced with dusty or smoky tones of blue and orchid); ‘Zensations' (offsetting shades from the blue and blue-green family with a compelling red, an atmospheric green and sparkling silver and gold); ‘Urban Jungle' (civilising chaos by marrying animal skin tones with deep blue-greens, a vibrant greenish yellow, plus black and white); ‘Past
