Dubai-based Acoulite, a lighting and acoustic solutions specialist, has completed a design and installation project at the first LinkedIn offices in the emirate.

The company was asked to maximise LinkedIn’s office space in Internet City, and to achieve the best possible lighting and acoustic results in an open area and with open ceilings.

A significant challenge was to ensure that acoustics in this space were not compromised, hence the use of acoustic baffles, which achieved the desired result.

The lighting in functional spaces used a cool white colour to ensure a professional working environment, while the break-out and games room areas were of a more relaxed colour, to help employees and clients unwind.

Acoulite provided an initial lighting design concept and specification which was then followed up with calculations to complete the final selection of lighting.

The Bur Dubai-based company worked closely with consultants to provide detailed lighting layouts along with lighting control schematics to ensure smooth running.

It also coordinated with interior designers to ensure that the finish of every light fixture matched the finish of each ceiling and that the original design intent was not compromised.

Products used were from such well-known manufacturers as Future Designs, XAL and Foscarini, with some of the lights custom-made for this scheme.

Acoulite was established in Dubai in 2005 and its operations now extend to Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and, more recently, the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
