SKY JUNGLE
Italian architect Stefano Boeri has been commissioned to overhaul two areas of Pudong Airport in Shanghai.
A ‘Sky Jungle’ is to be created in Terminal One, where a mixture of trees, bushes and flowers will act as an air-cleaning mechanism in an area extremely well-used by passengers.
And in Terminal Two, a uni-coloured enclosed rest area is to be created, along with several private rest rooms which will connect to the exhibition room on the second floor.
Boeri is gaining a growing reputation for his ‘vertical forest’ approach to design following the success of Bosco Verticale, a pair of tree-enshrined buildings in Milan.
