ECO CAMPAIGN

-

German appliances company Miele has launched an eco-campaign in the UAE, buying back and recycling old appliances, of any brand and in any condition, in exchange for a new Miele product.

Miele is partnering with EnviroServe to dismantle unwanted ovens, washing machines, fridges and dishwashers, allowing materials to be recycled.

It is estimated that the waste generated by the UAE will increase from 6.6 million tonnes in 2010 to 8.4 million tonnes by 2017. Throughout the Arabian Gulf, it is reckoned that almost 29 million tonnes of rubbish will be generated.

Stavros Politis, the managing director of Miele UAE, said: “We adhere to the highest environmental standards, especially when creating innovative, energy-efficient products.

“For example, our laundry appliances are made of recyclable cast iron, whereas others in the market use concrete. This makes them top of their class and sets standards in terms of environmental friendliness.

“By creating this eco-campaign we want to engage with the community to help to spread the recycling message and help the UAE take steps towards becoming more sustainable.”
