08 MOSCOW SCREEN STAR
The revitalisation of the Pushkinsky International Cinema Hall, by Los Angelesbased design studio MetropolitanmomentuM, was recently recognised with two American Architecture Prizes. Two exterior glass towers were added to the long-neglected historic cinema, housing retail facilities on the ground floor, along with concession stands and a book store on its second level, plus an interactive hub glass structure. New public areas outside the cinema include a skating rink, a small amphitheatre, an interactive hub structure/information centre and the provision of public art. Dedicated lanes for cyclists have also been created, as have new pedestrian zones.
