04 HAMBURG INNOVATIVE MOVE

MVRDV has won a competition to masterplan the new 70,000-square metre Hamburg Innovation Port. The project, at the waterways of old Harburger Schloss, will include hotels, conference halls, offices and starts-ups, laboratories, research facilities and underground parking facilities. The roofs of these buildings are partly green to accommodate terraces and solar cells, and at a later stage flexible bridges will be added to connect structures. The plan also includes a park, boulevard, square, shared spaces and waterside promenade complete with wide steps, inviting workers to have outside meetings and al fresco meal breaks.
