07 NEW YORK GLASS ACT

Richard Meier & Partners has departed from its trademark white palette with 685 First Avenue, an all-black glass and metal panel 42-storey residential tower which will accommodate 556 rental and condominium apartments. At 140 metres, it will be the company’s tallest building in New York City. Residents will have access to an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, children’s playroom, private dining room and lounge, which will all be located on the second floor, while retail space will be provided at street level. An architectural cut-out on the 27th and 28th floors will be visible from across the East River.
