01 DUSAI, BANGLADESH NATURAL CONTOURS

The award-winning DuSai Resort & Spa in north-east Bangladesh accommodates an amphitheatre, infinity swimming pool and conference room, as well as a cinema, gym, tennis court plus two badminton courts. Designed by Dhaka-based VITTI Sthapati Brindo, it is home to seven different types of cottages, including a presidential villa, plus a hotel and a range of dining options. The natural contours of the site were carefully respected, with existing open spaces being utilised. Cottages have been built on stilts, ensuring that dense vegetation remains untouched, and are constructed from a mixed truss system of wood and metal with a soft thatch cover.
