01 CHICAGO TOWERING AMBITION
Planning permission has been granted for the Howard Hughes Corporation to build a 51-storey tower at a prominent riverfront location. Billed as “a dynamic addition to Chicago’s iconic skyline”, the 325,000-square metre Goettsch Partners-designed tower will be wrapped in a high-performance aluminium and glass curtain wall, to provide sweeping views up and down the river. It will feature a range of amenities, including a conference centre, retail and dining options, fitness facility and state-of-the-art building systems. The tower will take two-and-a-half years to build but no date has yet been set for construction to begin.
