The world’s largest museum of Egyptian art and culture is to be designed by ATELIER BRÜCKNER, following an international competition. The Grand Egyptian Museum has a total floor area of more than 90,000 square metres, including about 40,000 square metres of space for exhibitions. An 11-metre statue of King Ramses II will welcome visitors to the atrium of a new building by heneghan peng architects, while more than 3000 exhibits will be on show for the first time. The complex, currently being built near the pyramids of Giza, aims to accommodate up to 15,000 visitors a day.
