The world’s largest mu­seum of Egyp­tian art and cul­ture is to be de­signed by ATE­LIER BRÜCKNER, fol­low­ing an in­ter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tion. The Grand Egyp­tian Mu­seum has a to­tal floor area of more than 90,000 square me­tres, in­clud­ing about 40,000 square me­tres of space for ex­hi­bi­tions. An 11-me­tre statue of King Ram­ses II will wel­come vis­i­tors to the atrium of a new build­ing by heneghan peng ar­chi­tects, while more than 3000 ex­hibits will be on show for the first time. The com­plex, cur­rently be­ing built near the pyra­mids of Giza, aims to ac­com­mo­date up to 15,000 vis­i­tors a day.
