Identity

Swiss Bureau Interior Design Emirates National Investment (ENI) Office

The client wanted the designers to create an office space that would be elegant, inviting and industrial – as well as attuned to employee well-being and the identity of the brand.

The space was inspired by an architectural building; specifically, of minimal and industrial design, following a brutalist framework of glass partitions which scale and allow for different spatial gestures. By modifying the structure of the space, the designers changed the previous impression of stiffness and inflexibility.

To represent knowledge, strength and unity, they decided to use the olive tree as a central feature. This is the first thing guests see when in the office, as it’s visible from all angles. It’s a connection point, which staff can gather in and which they can use as a lounging space. Swiss Bureau also demolished the entire wall around the core to create an even bigger open-plan, light, open, spacious and collaborative environment.

The judges enjoyed the space’s elegance, refinement and layout, as well as the discerning selection of materials. They were specifically struck by the complementary palette, as well as the way in which the designers integrated a sense of playfulness in a serious space, which will give people a chance to breathe.
