Outdoor lounging
Modern life calls for increasing adaptability and versatility in design. There is a bespoke element characterising many new products, with countless customisable components. In Pavilion H, Kettal has created a new range with a greater focus on architectural integration, enabling the creation of a streamlined, free-flowing space that can be incorporated into an existing context. Pavilion H can be configurated in numerous ways, and this adaptability is enhanced by a selection of more than 30 aluminium colours and more than 50 fabric choices. Advanced technology is incorporated into the minimalist construction, allowing the structure to independently drain water and add water, electricity and sound. As Communications Director Rosa Aznar and Creative Director Antonio Navarro explain, “The system is now able to adapt more efficiently to different uses and environments: landscapes, architecture, urban environment, maritime, mountain and so on.” Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby’s TIBBO lounging solution for Dedon also responds to the need for versatility. The design achieves both simplicity and comfort, for indoor or outdoor use, while the material – sustainably grown teak – is durable and weather-resistant. “We think people are increasingly living in spaces in which the outdoors and main living space are separated only by a piece of glass,” says Osgerby. “We saw an opportunity to design outdoor furniture with the same sensibility as a range designed for indoor use.”
