Looking Glass

- DAVID LIGHT david@khaleejtimes.com

ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER Nic Cage film. As much as we smirk at this actor’s superhuman output, in truth we actually can’t get enough. The movies just keep coming and, Mandy aside, even though the quality is middling at best, you know what you’re going to get: intense whispering, followed by shouting, followed by a stare into the distance. It appears this week’s Looking Glass isn’t going to affect the grading curve. Garnering very poor reviews, the movie’s synopsis is suitably vague to mask its failings. Cage plays Ray. When Ray and his wife Maggie’s (Robin Tunney) child passes away, they purchase a desert hotel where mysterious events occur. What those events are, we can’t say, but if you’re a fan of The Cage, does it matter? Rotten tomatoes gives it 17% trivia: This is Thought To be based on The True story of voyeur hotelier gerald foos
