A move that infused colour in their lives
After losing her brother two years ago, Dana’s life changed towards a different path. The room her brother used to reside in was so heavily entrenched with his personality, it was difficult for her to occupy it until now. Dana decided it was time to honour her brother’s memory by giving the room a fresh start. And Home Centre, the largest home retailer in the Middle East, brought about the change that perked up Dana’s spirit.
Did you know that the colours of your room are a direct reflection of your personality? While most of us may not spend a lot of time thinking about our room colour and set up, it actually affects us every day.
In its efforts to reach out to the community, understanding their moods and needs, raising their spirits by adding some colour to their lives, Home Centre transformed the personal living spaces of several deserving customers with its popular Room Makeover competition.
The retailer believes that living in an aesthetically appealing and energising space can certainly enhance one’s happiness and sense of well-being.
In its fourth edition in 2016, the Room Makeover competition successfully transformed the homes of 15 people across the region and infused new energy into their lives. And Dana was one of them.
Reflecting little Dana’s wishes and charming personality, the Home Centre team decided to go for a whole new look for the room. The team made sure that the furniture and accessories selected for the room, such as the New Port Collection, worked well with the vision that Dana had for room, and was suitable in terms of function and style. Accent pieces and wall ornaments helped transform the room into a comforting and soothing space for the loving sister.
Upon seeing the newly transformed room, Dana said: “I fell in love with the room as soon as I laid my eyes on it. My family was surprised at the transformation to say the least, and I feel that it reflects who I am. I am extremely thankful to the Home Centre team for giving the room this much needed makeover.”
Home Centre’s expert stylists ensured that every winner’s room was transformed as per their personal preferences and needs to reflect their distinctive personalities. Each of the makeovers was completed within a single day and accomplished using Home Centre’s vibrant new collection.
About Dh15,000 was used to reinvent the living spaces of four winners each in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as well as of two winners each in Oman, Qatar and Kuwait, and one winner in Lebanon.
The retailer received an overwhelming response of close to 60,000 entries and worked to shortlist a final 14 while carefully factoring in the personality traits of the contestants. The 15th winner was picked via an online voting system created on Home Centre’s Facebook page.
All winning entries in the UAE had a unique story to tell. Apart from Dana’s story, the other winners included a young artist who needed a creative space to work in, a lady who never got the opportunity to integrate her personality into her bedroom after getting married and a creative mother who wanted to revamp her daughter’s room.
