Head of Aussie body quits

-

Simon Hollingsworth, the head of Australia’s main sports funding body, has stepped down following the Rio Olympics, where the country posted its worst finish on the medals table since 1992 and won half the number of golds they had targeted.

Hollingsworth, who played a key role in introducing the controversial ‘Winning Edge’ funding programme, is to leave the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) at the end of September for a job with the Victorian state Treasury. He had been with the ASC for five years.
