Council to introduce leadership among kids
SHARJAH — Children in Sharjah will receive a valuable introduction to the responsibilities of leadership at the second session of the 14th Sharjah Children Council (SCC), which commences today at the Ruler’s Court.
Organised by the Sharjah Children Centres, a subsidiary of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the session will see attendance from 69 young members of the SCC. Taking place from 5pm to 7.30pm, the meeting will focus on the best ways of placing young people into positions of influence.
Reem BinKaram, Director of the SCC, said: “The SCC stems from our desire to nurture children as leaders, forward-thinkers and innovators by placing them in decision making, consultative and creative seats. This session will enable children to interact with each other on a number of intellectual topics and do so in a mature manner.
“Discourse that enables young people to put their views forward while respecting the opinions of others is what is at the core of a healthy society. Through these sessions, we encourage children to understand different cultures and help them acquire important skills that will serve them and the nation as they grow.”
Representing the younger generation as a special guest at the session will be 12-year-old Naaima Al Zarouni, an associate member of the SCC. She will address the children and adult members of the SCC. Her talk will discuss the key attributes that young people need to develop to pursue innovation and knowledge to advance society.
