Indian federation elects new chief
Businessman Ajay Singh has been elected president of the Indian Boxing Federation, ending four years of turmoil inside the organization.
The 51-year-old Singh beat Rohit Jain 49-15 in the voting in Mumbai that was overseen by the sport’s world governing body, AIBA. Jay Kowli was elected secretary general. Singh, chairman and managing director of SpiceJet, bought back the shares of the airline last year and turned it into a profit-making venture after selling off his majority shares in 2005.
