RAK Police recover body of Emirati reported missing
ras al khaimah — The Ras Al Khaimah Police has solved the mysterious murder crime of a young Emirati man, after five days of intensive search and investigations.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commanderin-Chief of the RAK Police, said on Wednesday morning said that they were alerted about an Emirati young man who had been missing for some days. “The RAK police investigations show that the victim was murdered by a relative who buried his body close to a makeshift house in a remote desert area of the emirate.”
The first suspect tracked down by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) team — a 37-yearold Emirati national — told the RAK Police that he, his 27-year-old nephew, and 23-year-old friend were abusing narcotics late at night when his nephew died of an overdose, Col Mankhas explained.
Col Abdullah Ali Mankhas, Director of the CID Department at RAK Police, said somebody alerted the central operations room of the RAK Police on Saturday, September 24, about the crime. “He said that the suspect, an Emirati national, buried one of his relatives who had died of a drug overdose.”
The CID team formed search teams and found the body on Wednesday morning, after long hours of intensive search, he added. “The body was buried along a highway of the emirate... the suspects claimed to have forgotten the location.” Sniffer dogs helped find the young man’s body, which was referred to the forensic section to identify the cause of death.
A search team was formed with men from the CID and special tasks departments, to track down the murderers, he added. “The suspects implicated in the crime, all with criminal records, were then identified and arrested.”
Col Mankhas said the search operation was a big challenge because of the vast and open search area. “Dubai Police’s sniffer dogs were a great help in this regard and helped find the hideout, where the corpse was extracted in the presence of the RAK prosecutors.” ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
