The incident

During a previous court hearing the uncle narrated the tragic incident that happened on November 14. At about 1am, he went to his brother’s office after a relative informed him that his brother was unwell. On entering the office, he found his brother lying in a pool of blood. The son, the accused, was kneeling next to the father and kissing him. On seeing the uncle, the accused handed over the fire extinguisher saying, “please beat me like I did.”

The youngster was behaving strangely even when the police arrived at the crime scene, the victim’s office in Sharjah, said the uncle. The victim was taken to Kuwaiti Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police investigations showed that the accused was brought back to the UAE because of his mental illness. A faith healer from Sudan who treated him said the youngster was much better and left. Unfortunately, the crime transpired that very night. After dropping off the healer, the father-son duo entered the former’s office where the accused allegedly hit him on the head with a fire extinguisher.

During interrogation, the son told the police that a jinn had ordered him to kill his father. He also claimed that he was not aware of what he had done.
