THEMES OF THE PROGRAMME

> Contributing to international efforts to promote tolerance and highlight UAE’s role as a tolerant country. Initiatives include International Award for Tolerance and International Institute for Tolerance

> Enriching the scientific and cultural content on tolerance. Initiatives include launch of the ‘UAE Guide to Tolerance’, a publication with relevant key terms and local and international laws, so it can be a local and international reference for researchers in this field, as well as the creation a radio program and short movie to spread and promote the values of tolerance.

> Promote tolerance among youth and protect them from fanaticism and extremism. Initiatives include ‘Tolerance Leaders’ Summit’ that brings together the leaders of the social media sector and distinguished youth, column writers and those who will help spread the values of tolerance; development of a cartoon character that represents the values of tolerance in TV cartoon series targeting children and in printed children’s literature, and the creation of a ‘Tolerance Volunteer Association’ that will focus on promoting communication among various communities in the UAE.

> Consolidating the role of the cohesive family in building a tolerant society. This includes multiple initiatives being run by the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Community Development, Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, Ministry of Education, the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Family Development Foundation.

> Strengthening the government role as an incubator of tolerance. Initiatives include organising events to celebrate the International Day for Tolerance and setting up the Tolerance Thinkers Council, a group of distinguished people of thought and expertise.
